Good, good things came out of the recording sessions for Descendents’ 1985 sophomore LP — 14, if we’re keeping score. Half of the record has the California quartet leaning into speed while mixing bratty snark (“Rockstar”) with satirically louche lyricism (“Pervert”). But it’s also a record where the melodic hardcore innovators push their hearts even further down their sleeves through poppy and earnestly romantic punk-outs (“Silly Girl,” “Good Good Things”). A timeless, genre-defining classic, pressed onto exclusive “Ocean”-colored vinyl (limited to 500 copies).
