"Necromance" is the debut full-length album by the Dutch necro-gore project Hymen Holocaust, a solo project of Morris "Cliteater". It was released in February 2006 by No Escape Records.
The album features raw, filthy, and downtuned groovy goregrind, intentionally avoiding blast beats. It comprises eight tracks with a total playing time of 26:30. The tracklist includes titles such as "Indecent Assault," "Virgin Surgeon," "Chronic Vaginal Itch," "Sick Pervert," "Self Mutilation," "The Hymen Crusher," "Necrophile", and "Giant Tits / Swollen Clits".
The lyrics are described as dubious and sexually deviant, but the overall musical quality is considered shockingly low. The guitar sound is characterized as crusty and sleazy, however, the riffs are deemed insipid. The vocals are unintelligible growls, which is potentially a blessing given the lyrical content.
Reviewers generally describe "Necromance" as dull, repetitive, and uninspired, adding nothing new to the goregrind genre. While some tracks like "Self Mutilation", "Virgin Surgeon", and "The Hymen Crusher" offer a sick groove and brutal slowdowns, the album as a whole is viewed as a formulaic exercise in extremity.
The album was recorded and mixed between April and July 2007 by Morris Cliteater, and mastered in Raalte, Holland by R.V. It incorporates samples stolen from the film "Der Todesking" by Jorg Buttgereit.
